Primeval

Abstracted Art - one of my favourites in the genre. This is a detail of a huge metal sculpture that was on display in the Sneek Museum.

Whirls

It's been a while, but here is a shot I took a few weeks ago in the Kampen City Museum. A close up of a glass art piece that works well as an abstract I think.

Camera: Nikon D7000 handheld
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal length: 145 mm
Exposure time: 1/30
ISO speed: 400
Post-processing: Picasa 3.0

Bicycle art

A detail of a larger sculpture of a bicycle, constructed from rusty bicycle parts. We encountered this one in the prison yard.

Leeuwarden lineplay

First in a series of shots I took during a day-trip to Leeuwarden last week. This one was shot inside an art piece on the side walk, aiming up (and not being able to see the picture about to be taken). I like the asymmetry in this shot.

Camera: Canon IXUS 170 handheld
Aperture: f/10.0
Focal length: 4.5 mm
Exposure time: 1/320
ISO speed: 200
Post-processing: Picasa 3.0

HeLP!

It's been over two months since I last posted here - hardly took any pictures and none I was satisfied with. Last weekend's Full Color festival in Kampen changed this, and I'll post a few the coming days. This is from an art piece consisting of scores of LP records hung as a display. Art or vandalism?

Torque

A different take on the art installation we saw in the Lu One shopping mall (first shot was posted here). Another example of  using a detail of an existing art piece to create an abstract photograph.

Into the abyss

Details of larger art works can yield interesting abstract photographs. Here I had a go at a large cardboard sculpture exhibited in the local City Museum. It is most likely made by Maartje Korstanje.

LuOne art installation

Spotted in the LuOne shopping mall: an intriguing piece of art, consisting of dozens of coloured wires. I went for a composition strong on both diagonals. Unfortunately, I did not notice the name of the artist.
